Once again Members and friends from the UK enjoyed the annual visit to Bad Eilsen meeting up with old friends and making new ones This year the Landhaus Lahmann was able to accommodate everybody.
On Thursday morning after breakfast Members gathered at the “Green Umbrellas” (Mittlepunkt) for free coffee and were pleased to see that it would be opening from 11am each day during our stay (very nice gesture).
This year the BBQ was held on Thursday evening in the Stables and once again Garby and Brandy’s hospitality excelled. Also Markus Lehman arrived from Bremen with 100 copies of the new book (in German) about our time at Bad Eilsen which he and Jurgen Balke have written.
Friday morning there was a visit to Buckeburg food market followed by an afternoon visit to the Schloss to watch a riding display.
Although Saturday was a “free” day some Members took the opportunity to visit Rinteln and a small group paid a visit to Margot’s family grave to lay some flowers.
On Sunday morning the usual church service was held in the Christuskirche, the local congregation giving Members a round of applause! After lunch the annual Englischer Nachmittag, this year, took place in the Kurpark with entertainment by the children’s choir.
The majority went by coach to the old town of Hoexter on Monday morning and after lunch went on to the former abbey of Corvey and then to Scharfoldendorf. Others went to Bad Pyrmont.
The return was once again rounded off on Tuesday with an evening in The Stables for a last evening meal together.
