Once again members and friends enjoyed the annual visit to Bad Eilsen with the added bonus of excellent weather.

As usual the week began on Wednesday evening with a meal in the “Airman’s Mess” – now the Schultz restaurant.

On Thursday morning after breakfast Members gathered at the ”Green Umbrellas” for free coffee after which a group walked up the Harrlalle to the Golf Club to meet their Vice President who said the Club would be delighted to receive our tankard (see page 19 of February Gazette) and arrangements were made for him to accept the gift on Sunday afternoon at the Landhaus ..

The BBQ was held once again on Friday evening in the Stables meeting old friends and making new ones.

Saturday some Members drove to Schaumburg Schloss for lunch (organised by Carl Hall) overlooking the excellent scenery along the River Weser between Rinteln and Hameln.

On Sunday morning, about a dozen Members went to church and then at 15.00 it was the Englische Nachmittag, organised by the Gemeinde in the Englische Garten outside the Schulz Restaurant.. Music was provided by Movistar.. Berndt Schonemann, as Mayor of the Samtgemeinde, conducted a “mock wedding” ceremony in which Dagmar Soehlke married John Bush. The best man was Jim Clarke, who kissed the bride! Lucky fellow!

The main trip this year (again organised by Carl Hall) was on the Monday, when 25 Members went by boat from Rinteln up the River Weser to Hameln enjoying lunch on the way

The Return was rounded off on Tuesday with an evening in the Stables which had opened especially for us.

A fuller report will appear in the next Gazette
